Local governments are being hit with a heavy economic burden with the slowdown in residential real estate. Sizeable reductions in new home construction and demands from the state of Florida requiring local governments to cut back their budgets are taking their toll. Fewer permits being pulled for new home construction means less revenue for local governments.
